(EN)VISIONOGRAPHY DXO FINE ART PRESETS – WHY AND HOW
The (en)Visiongraphy Fine Art Preset Collection is a new series of fine art presets created especially for the DxO NIK Collection, comprising 35 presets of NIK Silver Efex and 35 presets for NIK Color Efex.
You can use the presets to create black and white and color photographs, covering a wide range of fine art effects.
You will find most of the black and white presets in NIK Silver Efex, which focuses on black and white photography, while most of the color presets will be found in NIK Color Efex, a plugin mostly used to create color photography.
However, you can find a few color presets among the presets for Silver Efex and a few B&W presets among the presets for Color Efex. This way, if one or the other plugin is your preferred, you still have access to a wide range of effects without needing to switch to the other plugin.
There are some B&W effects that you cannot create in NIK Silver Efex, but you can create in Color Efex, like a better Orton effect or Infrared effect, so make sure you try the B&W effects in NIK Color Efex if you work with B&W photography, even if you may think that Color Efex is only for color photography.
The presets will help you create fine art photographs and express your vision without needing to use complicated tools to create the effects you have in mind.
You can use the presets in Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One and DxO PhotoLab if you have installed DxO NIK Collection as a plugin or stand-alone program.
You can also use the presets in the standalone versions of the NIK Silver Efex and NIK Color Efex plugins.
The intention behind creating these presets was to make a series of fine art black and white and color presets that can be used as a fast and straightforward way of creating fine art photography using the DxO NIK software, alone or combined with Lightroom, Photoshop, or Capture One.
These presets can be a tool, giving the photographers using them a simple modality of exploring different looks and moods for their image without needing to invest a large amount of time in this process.
The presets are not necessarily meant to be used as final images. You can keep exploring and experimenting with them, and you can see them as a starting point in your post-processing workflow, giving you ideas about how to work on your image to create a result that is as close as possible to your vision. You can increase or decrease the intensity of the preset or even change it entirely through a creative approach.
The presets are fully adjustable, and you can change the intensity of all the effects applied. They are not LUT style (a certain color grading style that is applied as is) but are fully editable. If you want any effect to be stronger or more reduced, you can dial it up or down. This way, you can adapt the presets to your own artistic style.
Do not be afraid to play with different looks, as this can release your creativity and make you find original solutions.
Some of the presets created for NIK Silver Efex are based on the very popular Dark City Preset Series that Julia Anna Gospodarou created for DxO FilmPack and then expanded and adapted to DxO PhotoLab.

EXAMPLES – IMAGES CREATED EXCLUSIVELY WITH THE (EN)VISIONOGRAPHY NIK PRESETS
(more examples in the downloaded material)
Below you can see some examples of work created using only the (en)Visionography Presets, without the help of other software.
You can get even more creative than this by tweaking the preset or even combining the looks. Also, refining the image further in Lightroom, Photoshop, Capture One, or DxO PhotoLab can give a higher level of subtlety to your image and create an even more original look.

You can find more examples of images created with the DxO (en)Visionography preset series in the documentation material you will receive when you download the presets.
When you work with a preset, try to understand the elements that created it, the effects that were applied, the tools used to create those effects, and how they work together. Understanding the creation of a preset is a great learning experience that always adds to the refinement of the technique of the photographer. This way, you can be in control of your own photography and get creative with these presets and your software in general.
I hope you will enjoy working with these presets, and they will give you the inspiration to take your photography to the next level. If you enjoy them, share your impressions in the comments and spread the word so others can be inspired too.
And, of course, subscribe if you want to receive updates for these presets, or find out when new presets or other post-processing tools are available, and also to receive free articles and tutorials in the future.
