Founder of (en)Visionography and an early leader in black and white fine art architectural photography, Julia is a highly sought-after educator, experienced workshop leader, and award-winning photographer. She is a Two-Time IPA International Photography Awards Professional Architecture Photographer of the Year, a World Photography Awards & Hasselblad Masters Finalist, and the recipient of more than 100 major photography awards. She is also the author of the best-selling reference book From Basics to Fine Art.
A progressive architect with a Master’s degree, Julia is a polyglot speaking six languages and a passionate lover of art in all its forms, who is in love in the highest degree with both the wonders of the city and the immensity of the landscape. Over the past 15+ years, she has worked with hundreds—if not thousands—of students and clients, making a strong impact on contemporary photography.
Her original concept, (en)Visionography, has gained worldwide recognition in the 21st century, inspiring a new artistic movement in photography, and giving photographers freedom of expression in creating authentic personal art.
“I’ve taken more than 20 workshops and measured by the number of unique things I learned that will take my photography to a whole new level, Julia’s was the best.“

A FEW WORDS ABOUT JURASSIC COAST AND THE TOUR
Join us at the Jurassic Coast Fine Art Landscape Photography Workshop for an extraordinary journey of visual exploration. This immersive experience is designed to fuel your passion for nature, expand your creative horizons, and celebrate the wonders of this remarkable coastline.
Whether you prefer color photography or black and white photography, this workshop will captivate your senses and inspire you to create images that will leave a lasting impact.
There are places where the Earth speaks in whispers, and others where it sings in thunder. The Jurassic Coast is one of the latter. Stretching along Dorset’s wild southern edge, this World Heritage coastline is a living chronicle of time – 185 million years of geological memory carved into its cliffs and the sea. Here, every piece of land and every wave tells the story of creation itself: bold, raw, and breathtakingly beautiful.
This journey is not just about capturing landscapes. It’s about entering a world that takes us to the core of nature, where light unveils the limestone and mist rolls through valleys, revealing the mysteries of the past, the mysteries of Earth. At dawn, the cliffs are covered in gold as the first light touches Durdle Door’s arch. By dusk, the sea mirrors the dramatic sky in the ancient ledges of Kimmeridge Bay. Wherever you look, you see time, wind, sea, and grass creating a natural habitat unique in the world.
Guided by the rhythm of tides and the patterns of changing weather, you’ll learn to read light as the coast itself does: in layers, moods, and feelings that will turn your vision into art. This is landscape photography in its purest form: standing at the edge of the sea, camera in hand, soul open, waiting for that perfect moment when everything aligns.
But beyond photography, this is a journey of renewal, an experience of self-discovery. The Jurassic Coast makes you slow down, breathe deeper, and see more purely. It reconnects you with your core and your creative instinct; it helps you be aware of each second and live it to the maximum. It reminds you why you photograph in the first place.
Five days. Endless horizons. Life-changing experiences.
From sunrises over white cliffs to the soft whisper of the tide, this workshop is not just a photographic adventure – it’s a conversation with time, light, and your own creative depth.
Join us on the edge of England, where land and sea meet eternity
What sets this workshop apart is the accessibility and ease of exploration. Unlike many other landscape photography destinations, the Jurassic Coast allows you to experience wild beauty without the need for difficult hikes or excessive effort. Here, we can move easily through pristine coastal landscapes, capturing outstanding moments at our own pace. The safe environment ensures you can focus on your craft without distraction, immersing yourself in the natural wonders that surround you.
During the workshop, you will receive expert guidance from a multi-awarded internationally photographer who shares your passion for capturing the essence and beauty of the Jurassic Coast. Julia will help you refine your technical skills, explore new creative perspectives, and push the boundaries of your artistry. Moreover, you will connect with fellow photographers who share your enthusiasm, fostering a supportive community that will uplift and inspire you throughout your journey.

Jurassic Coast Workshop 2026 Program Details
In the field sessions
The intention is to follow the weather, tides and light conditions, so we will keep the workshop flexible. We will shoot in as many locations as possible and choose the ones that best suit the weather and light conditions at that moment.
We will be shooting at sunrise, sunset, and in between when conditions are good, or we may focus on sunrise and sunset if the weather is not interesting enough—no clouds, fog, or other interesting conditions. However, keep in mind that seemingly uninteresting conditions and other limitations can help you create outstanding images by pushing you to think outside the box. I have countless examples of great photographs I shot when the conditions were uninteresting, so I warmly recommend you use any weather condition to photograph.
Image reviews and discussions
If the weather conditions and time allows, for instance, if on a certain day the weather or light are not very interesting, or if it rains too heavily to be out shooting, we may use the time to discuss student images or review post-processing techniques.
Julia will be available during the workshop to answer individual questions about all these topics, so if you have any, don’t hesitate to ask.
In any case, regardless of the conditions during the field workshop, we will be reviewing the images of the students and discussing post-processing techniques during the post-workshop group live online session included in the Extended Workshop Level and the Full Workshop Level, so if you are interested in getting feedback for your work and exploring the post-processing side of photography, it is recommended to choose one of these two options in addition to the in the field workshop.
Iconic Shooting Locations
World-renowned Durdle Door, Old Harry Rocks & Many More
While we cannot be 100% sure about which locations will be best to shoot, depending on the weather conditions, tides, etc., the intention is to shoot the most iconic locations such as Durdle Door, Old Harry Rocks, Isle of Portland, Kimmeridge Bay, Swanage, Lulworth Cove, ánd many more. One thing is for sure: there is no shortage of amazing locations to shoot all along the Jurassic Coast, and we will take full advantage of as many as possible.

Jurassic Coast Workshop 2026 Practical Details
Transport, Accommodation, Meals
TRANSPORT
To reach the Jurassic Coast from abroad or from further away in the UK, the best option is to fly to London or Bristol, then travel by train or rent a car.
You will need access to a car to follow along with the routes. Transport is not included in the workshop, as many of the locations we will be shooting don’t provide enough parking for a larger vehicle needed for the entire group, so we’ll need to use regular cars. This also makes things more flexible for you, especially if you want to come to the Jurassic Coast early or stay longer after the workshop. Thus, you will need to ensure that you have your own (or rented) vehicle for the duration of the workshop, or alternatively, you can carpool with other workshop participants. You can very easily rent a car at London or Bristol airports, as well as in locations closer to the coast. We will send detailed info about this in due time.
There is no need for a 4 x 4 vehicle. A regular car will be enough. We will be traveling mostly on regular paved roads, and if need be, on some off-road routes that will be suitable for a regular car. If you are close to the Jurassic Coast, you can drive from your base location, and if you have the time for it, we would definitely recommend it since the access routes to Dorset and the Jurassic Coast are beautiful, and you could photograph along the way.
ACCOMMODATION
You will also need to arrange your own accommodation. It is easy to do that nowadays, and from our experience, it is better to give participants the freedom to choose their own lodging style when there is no need for all of us to stay in the same hotel.
We will have one main base, and as long as you can reach the meeting points every day, you can stay wherever you want. It is recommended, however, to stay closer to the meeting points and ideally at the location where the group will be.
We will send details and recommendations on how to best travel to reach the Jurassic Coast, hotel recommendations, and car-rental recommendations if you need to rent one.
All the details related to how to reach the Jurassic Coast and organize your lodging and transport will come from us well in advance, so you can organize everything at your own pace.
MEALS
At times, we may have breakfast, lunch, or dinner together as a group (which is always enjoyable and a wonderful moment to create new friendships and learn new things from your peers); however, the meal costs are not covered by the workshop fee.
Clothing
More details about choices for clothing and equipment will come together with the details about transport and accommodation, but in principle, you will need to ensure that you have good quality sturdy warm clothing and footwear to withstand the elements. This is not the moment to wear your fancy clothes or shoes, but the moment to wear your sturdy hiking boots (ankle height, broken-in), waterproof pants for shooting in the rain or close to the water, raincoat, and that nice waterproof explorer hat that you can’t wear in the city. :). It goes without saying, your camera also needs a rain cover to make sure it stays protected if we are shooting in the rain.
Physical Abilities – Difficulty
The workshop will not be very demanding from the point of view of the physical effort. We will mostly walk on flat or slightly or moderately inclined terrain and will not need to hike in extreme conditions. You may need to walk uphill or downhill; however, the hikes will not be steep or very demanding. We will be mostly walking on ground or well-preserved trails for a few hundred meters up to one or 2 miles (1-2 km). And of course on the street or sidewalk by case. In some cases, we can park quite close to the shooting locations, so we will not need to walk too much. That being said, it is important for you to know your physical limits and not push them. Depending on your physical condition, you may choose to do the “soft” version of each location shoot, walking less and not pushing yourself. Make sure you can be out most of the day, as some days will be longer. If you know you can’t be out for the entire time, you may choose to cover only part of the program on a certain day.
You will need to be able to carry your camera and equipment during the shooting sessions so it won’t hurt to train a bit before the workshop by making sure that you can walk carrying your camera bag and tripod.
Safety & Wellbeing
We consider safety paramount and build our workshops and tours around it. There is nothing more important, so we need everyone to be on board and mindful of how to stay safe.
However, it is important to keep in mind that, no matter how much we care, you are 100% responsible for your safety, health and good condition. If at any moment you feel that you need to stop, you have to follow the feedback your body gives you and stop.
This is why you need to be mindful and not risk or push yourself, so you can get back home in the same good condition you started. Please read the workshop terms and conditions before signing up, since you will find good advice there on what to take care of to stay safe.
I warmly recommend that everyone get travel and health insurance that will cover any unforeseen situations.

Who is this workshop for
Photographers of all levels, from beginning to advanced, are welcome, regardless of the gear they use or how long they have been doing photography. After all, fine art, (en)Visionography, relies more on the vision of the artist than on his gear. I have won many awards using basic gear and you can do it too. Even if you are shooting with a phone, you will get amazing opportunities on this trip. Besides, phones have become so good lately that you can even get prints from a good phone shot.
Landscape photographers, as well as architecture or urban photographers, are welcome, and any photographer creating other genres of fine art photography (still life, portraiture, conceptual) or aiming to learn how to do it, will find this workshop a great tool for advancing their photography to the next level. The subject you work with is not that important; what you want to convey through it is, and you will find out why that happens and learn how to do it.
We will mostly shoot landscapes, but the knowledge you will acquire in this workshop can be applied to any subject or photography genre, since it is based on your personal style and not necessarily on a specific subject. Shooting a different genre than the one you shoot regularly is always one of the best ways to stay inspired, get new ideas, and learn to think outside the box.
Suggested Preparation Material
In addition to the material available through the workshop itself, the following books and courses are excellent learning resources to prepare for this workshop.
The resources cover multiple theoretical, practical, and post-processing subjects for an overall pre-workshop preparation, which will give you better captures in the field and more impressive final images. It is particularly important to consult them before the workshop since this workshop is a practical one.
- Video Course 7+ hours – Understanding Fine Art Architectural Photography – The Complete Course – an exhaustive video course about creating fine art photography, with an emphasis on architectural subjects – From vision andcomposition to advanced post-procesing.
- Video Course 5+ hours – From Vision to Final Image – Mastering B&W Photography Processing – extensive analytical black and white photography conceiving and post-processing.
- Video Tutorial 2.5+ hours – Creating (en)Visionography – Long Exposure, Architecture, Fine Art Photography – theoretical and practical analysis of (en)Visionography, fine art photography, architecture and long exposure photography, working with the tilt-shift lens.
- eBook 425 pages – From Basics to Fine Art – Black and White Photography – Architecture and Beyond – extensive theoretical and practical analysis of fine art black and white photography – principles, rules, practical advice, post-processing.
Create MORE than phography
What equipment/software you need
Camera
- A camera with Bulb function or with Manual mode that can shoot long exposure past 30 seconds. If you don’t want to shoot long exposure, you don’t need the bulb function, but I wouldn’t miss in your place the chance to shoot long exposure.
- A cable release/remote control to control the shutter during the exposures, in case your camera does not have this function.
Lenses
- Your favorite lenses. The first choice will be a wide-angle or ultra-wide-angle lens, which will enable you to get closer to your subject, cover a larger field of view, and create more dynamic images. If you have a tilt-shift, bring it with you, as it is a great lens for architecture and landscape photography. If you don’t own a tilt-shift lens, but you would like to get one (it is not a requirement for the workshop, only if you want to), I would recommend starting with the 24mm tilt-shift, which will cover the broadest range of subjects. In addition, a long lens in the range of 100-200mm or 100-300mm will be useful to be able to reach further and shoot details or subjects placed in the distance. You can get different discounts for photography gear from this link.
Filters
- ND filters if you want to shoot long exposure. Recommended: Formatt-Hitech Firecrest or Firecrest Ultra 10, 13 (or 14) and 16-stop ND filters. Alternatively, Formatt-Hitech Firecrest or Firecrest Ultra 10, 6 and 3-stop (or 4-stop) ND filters. If you want to cover more ground, you can consider a broader range consisting of a set of 3 (or 4), 6, 10, 13 (or 14) and 16-stop ND filters that would help you cover any exposure you may need. You can use the square or circular filter version. If you use the square filters, I recommend the Formatt-Hitech Firecrest anti-light-leak filter holder with magnetic polarizer. For any Formatt-Hitech Filter, holder, or accessory you need to purchase, use the code JULIA10 to get a 10% discount when ordering from this link.
Tripod
- A sturdy tripod to stabilize your camera during long exposures or to experiment with creative photography (motion blur, ICM etc.). I have negotiated some discounts for my students from FLM tripods and you can get 10% discount using the code JULIAG10 when ordering from this link.
Laptop/Computer
- You can have a laptop with you but it is not necessarily required. If you do bring a laptop, the following pieces of software will be the most useful, and you can use my discount codes below to get them if necessary. You will need access to a computer for the online sessions, and you can use the software below if you want to apply the techniques Julia will be teaching in the post-processing and review sessions.
Software
- Photoshop, Lightroom or Camera RAW, Capture One, DxO PhotoLab, etc (depending on your preferences). Additional useful tools below.
- For any Topaz Labs software product, you can usually get some discounts when ordering from this link.
- For any DxO software (NIK plugins, PhotoLab, ViewPoint, FilmPack etc.), you can usually get some discounts when ordering from this link. You can use the code PAR_482777935_Y62O5N9V549T to get 15% off any DxO product.
- If you work with DxO NIK Collection, you will like the DxO NIK (en)Visionography Fine Art Presets for NIK Silver Efex and NIK Color Efex at this link (en)Visionography Fine Art DxO NIK Presets.
- If you work with DxO, you will like the DxO Dark City Fine Art Presets for PhotoLab and FilmPack at this link Dark City Fine Art DxO Presets.
